Turning Department
Our Lathe department features multi-axis CNC turning centers that produce turning and milling operations without multiple setups.
Turning processes are typically carried out on Lathe machines. Today’s production equipment is Computer Numerical Controlled, commonly known as CNC and vary in number of axis. The more axis the lathe has the more complex of a part that can be manufactured on one machine. The Lathes are capable of machining simple to complex round parts and can drill holes on or off center.
A CAD program is sent to the machines computer locating all the cutting points needed to complete a part. An operator sets up the required tooling. The lathe rotates the material as the tooling makes contact with the stock. Speeds and feeds are determined by the type of material, spindle power, coolant and rigidity of tooling. This all gets taken into consideration when calculating the cost to run a particular part.
These machines feature automatic bar feeder, tool loading and parts conveyor, reducing cost and manufacturing time.
We have capabilities of turning up to 18” diameters x 30″ long with tolerances as tight as .0001.
We manufacture from materials such as:
- Aluminum
- Steel
- Plastics
- Stainless Steel
- Exotics
- Castings
